This week we highlight the race Jordan (@mcgoogle.1) and Matt (@pokec_29) had in the Le Mans Ultimate 4 Hours of Spa event. After a very late night with Hayden on the last attempt, Jordan decided Matt would qualify the car, a very solid lap landed them in P6 once again. Matt got off to a good start, holding off the advances of the cars behind before dropping them through sheer pace, solid and consistent for 2 hours, not putting a wheel wrong. A couple of overtakes from Matt when they could otherwise have been stuck behind a slower car were crucial to the finishing position. Coupled with the correct strategy of only taking fronts and doubling the rears across this double, they were sitting pretty on the podium in P3 with 2h30 to go. The gap to the lead was 30s, quite a lot for a track like Spa, but the aim was simple - try and catch up if they can. Early on into Jordan's double they realised that he was lapping as the fastest car on track, due to the fact most teams had ran their outright fastest in the first 2 hours. This proved to be the deciding factor, as in the next 2h30 Jordan was able to not only pull 30 seconds back and then overtake the leader, but also go on and lap the whole GT3 field. Incident free, superb consistency and pace to boot (2:20s all day), we tip our hats to Matt for his stints and also congratulate him on helping achieve the very first victory for the team on LMU. Jordan (@mcgoogle.1) and Hayden (@haydens1989) took on the challenge first in the BMW GT3, but server issues for Hayden meant that the initial qualifying attempt was a half-hearted one. They managed to resolve these issues thankfully and Jordan set his personal best to start P6. The first half an hour involved heavy battling for the last podium step, but unfortunate contact at Pouhon meant the car dropped down the field to ninth. Jordan clawed the car back up to P5 with a double stint on full tires and Hayden continued his work, driving stellar stints and eventually finishing 0.4 seconds off podium. Stijn (@sim_racer_stijnd) and Lukas Küthe took on the event after that in an LMP2 and a highly competitive Split 3. Stijn qualified 14th, but was able to bring the car up all the way to 5th by the time Lukas was supposed to take the car. However, disaster struck as software issues did not allow Lukas to take the car and they had to retire completely. Stijn (@sim_racer_stijnd) and Jordan (@mcgoogle.1) gave it the last shot on Sunday, again in the LMP2. Stijn qualified P3, but was put into the wall in the first turn and had to wait for the entire field to pass by. From there on it became a climb back up and he managed to get to P5. The GTP team of Hunter (@_hunter_davis__) and Patryk (@patrykdziedziccc) qualified third on the grid in split 3, but fell down to P7 in a few laps. It was all according to plan, though, as they were on a fuel saving strategy that the others around were not doing, getting two laps more on the track than any other car in class. The end result was that they gained a position just about every stop and had to do 7 stops compared to everyone else's eight and solidly confirming their race win! The GT3 team of Lukas James and Oliver (@oliverrupton) had their race in split 7 and there was some nervousness heading into the race as they qualified just 27th and the race start being chaotic as could be. They managed to keep their cool enough around the lapping GTPs and LMP2s, and other than a late drive-through due to incident points, they managed to keep their noses clean and rise all the way up to ninth place by the end of the race. The GT3 team of Jordan (@mcgoogle.1), Hayden (@haydens1989) and George (@hunterstriker777) took on split 8, and looked to be quite successful in the mid-pack, until an unavoidable crash right as they were about to pit took them a lap down from the leaders. An additional shunt from an overtaking GTP meant that even stellar doubles from both Jordan and Hayden would not help them along too much and the team crossed the line in P16. Same drive.◉ @toga_racing🏁 OUR NEW WEBSITE IS LIVE We’re excited to launch the new home of Toga...Car #619 took on the 24 Hours of Spa this weekend, and it was looking to be a tough race from the start, as they ended up in Split 3 with a 3K Strength of Field. Jordan (handle) qualified P26 on the puddled track, and the split showed its fangs from the start as everyone was pushing strong and clean from the get-go. Nevertheless Jordan was up to the task and by the end of his second stint climbed his way up to P10. However, an errant puddle caused him to spin and pop his wing off a low-speed wall collision, meaning a slow drive to the pits and a minute lost in the pits. From there all of Jordan, Konrad (handle), Patryk (handle) and Troy (handle) all put in mega stints, climbing their way back to P9 in this monster of a split with nine hours to go. And then, disaster - Troy had followed the fuel calculator of his overlay and stayed out a lap too long, running out of fuel at the pit entry even with saving the entire final lap. The tow lost the car another minute and at this point the team realized P17 is the ceiling for the end of the race. Near the end rain hit the track for the first time, and Jordan was in his element, being the fastest car on the track for his triple stint. Troy took over for the final stint, but suffered some damage and was unable to hold back the final chargers behind, resulting in the car finishing the race at P19. It was a hard race and although the result was unsatisfactory, we are proud of the efforts each driver showed in the toughest split TOGA Racing has ever been in. It was a great mark to a year since TOGA Racing began its iRacing journey and we had some great results from the special events, including a win at the Global Endurance 6H of Spa and podiums at the Daytona and Bathurst special events. We have moved from 1.3k splits to 3k splits in a single year, and we thank everyone who has worked towards bringing us forward this year. #iracing #gt3 #spafrancorchamps◉ @toga_racingCar #619 took on the 24 Hours of Spa this weekend, and it was looking to...Car #45 took on the 24h of Spa this weekend, ending up in split 20 with a 1.7k Strength of Field! Dean (@dean_murrell) qualified the car P4, helping the team avoid a massive crash on lap 1 happening outside of the top ten. He had the car going incredibly strong, keeping the car in P7 before heading to the pits. George (@hunterstriker777) carried on forward with good pace, but an unlucky tail slap took him into the wall at Stavelot and the car crawled back to the pits for three minutes of damage, dropping the team down to P44. The team did not give up, however, as Henri (@fluxdahawk) took the car and started trading stints first with George, then Oliver (@oliverrupton) as they headed into night hours, steadily climbing into the top 15. There is a good reason why night time stints are called crazy hours, as the hold-ups, off-tracks and accidents became more frequent around the track for everyone. The team was also caught up in one, as while driving in P11, Henri was punted nose-first into a wall in the middle of his stint. The team drove straight to the pits to assess the damage, and a heavy sigh of relief was had as there was only 8 seconds of damage, meaning the team could carry on without issue from P18. George took over, trading doubles with Stijn (@sim_racer_stijnd), steadily grinding towards the top as the car was in the top 10 by the morning. By the time Dean returned to finish the race with Stijn, the team was fighting again for P4, taking advantage of being off-sync from the rest of the field. With around 2 hours to go, two things started to dawn for the team - the promised rain may never come, and the various incidents meant not enough fuel to finish P4 with this strategy. Thus the super-fuel-saving-strategy started, and Dean executed it to perfection, taking the car firstly to 26 and then 28 laps to end the race solidly in P4. This was a race of persistence and effort, fighting back from an early mistake to almost ending up on the podium.
